Syner-G Founder Scott R. Rudge Co-Authors Third Edition of Bioseparations Science and Engineering

New edition from Oxford University Press brings together foundational bioseparations principles with evolving technologies and practical applications in process design and scale-up.

Syner-G is proud to recognize founder Scott R. Rudge on the publication of the third edition of Bioseparations Science and Engineering, co-authored with Roger G. Harrison, Paul W. Todd, and Demetri P. Petrides and published by Oxford University Press. The third edition was published October 9, 2026.

Written for undergraduate and graduate students as well as industry practitioners, Bioseparations Science and Engineering connects the scientific principles and theory behind bioseparations with their practical application in engineering, process design, and scale-up. The book covers bioseparations unit operations including filtration, sedimentation, extraction, chromatography, precipitation, crystallization, evaporation, and drying.

The third edition builds on that foundation with new and updated material reflecting the continued evolution of the field. Among the additions are expanded discussions of DNA and RNA analysis, the stability of small biomolecules, and updated process design economics. New illustrative examples further help readers translate scientific concepts and engineering theory into practical applications.

For Syner-G, this publication represents more than an academic achievement. Scott’s contribution reflects the scientific rigor, practical problem-solving, and commitment to knowledge sharing that have shaped our organization and continue to guide how we deliver for our clients. His continued involvement in educating the next generation of scientists and engineers reinforces an important part of who we are: a company built by technical leaders who remain deeply engaged in advancing their disciplines, translating that expertise into industry best practices, and ultimately helping bring life-enhancing therapies to patients.

We are fortunate to have leaders like Scott who bring deep technical expertise to their work while continuing to contribute their knowledge to the broader scientific and engineering community.

Congratulations to Scott, Roger, Paul, and Demetri on this outstanding achievement.
